Personal Signal Assistant®.Bringing traffic lights into the vehicle.

An introduction to the Personal Signal Assistant®
The Personal Signal Assistant® service provides predictive traffic signal data to enable vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) applications such as Green Light Optimized Speed Advisory (GLOSA) and red-light countdown for signalized intersections. Globally, modern cities manage their traffic lights via centralized systems; the service securely taps into the cities’ networks, normalizes the data and then applies proprietary algorithms to create a predictive Information-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering across primary markets in the US/Canada, Europe, and China.
Commercially started in the US in 2016, the service now spans over 40 metropolitan areas at more than 48,000 signalized intersections with a planned growth to 200,000 intersections by 2026. In Western Europe, commercial service commenced in 2018 and is expanding from currently 7 to 45 cities in 11 countries by 2026. In China, the rollout plan goes from currently 4 to 38 major cities by 2026.
Personal Signal Assistant® is the only commercially available V2I IaaS. It currently powers respective services of major automotive brands (i.e., Audi’s Traffic Light Information) and is the traffic light service of choice for numerous users across the automotive OEM, navigation, food delivery, delivery fleet and smart city applications spectrum.

What problem does this solve?
45% of traffic accidents and fatalities occur at signalized intersections. We give certainty and confidence to drivers to approach intersections safely.
For trucks and fleets, we help optimize operations by providing the intelligence necessary to drive efficiently and save up to 14% of fuel costs and battery efficiency. Traffic signal controllers do not deliver multiple predicted states, or when they do the quality is not sufficient for advanced connected vehicle applications. A key value of our technology and service is the quality and precision of our predictions. In addition, we are deploying a system across North America and Europe that speeds up the introduction of connected and automated vehicle applications to the market. Find out more about the needs we are addressing for connected and automated vehicles. How does this predict future operations? We communicate with public agency central systems that are capable of supporting real-time communication to infrastructure. Our solution is entirely software based, no widgets and no apps to download. Using data fusion techniques, machine learning, and a type of simulation, we are able to predict traffic signal operations up to five minutes.

How is it used? There are numerous use cases for the Personal Signal Assistant® service for both connected vehicle and automated vehicle applications. Find out more about customer applications and possibilities to change how the vehicles and the drivers experience the traffic signal in the future.
How can customers consume this service? We provide three distinct architecture options for consuming the Personal Signal Assistant® IaaS product. Each option is supported by fully documented APIs. The best and most appropriate choice for architecture typically depends on the customer’s intended use cases and delivery mechanism. Find out more about our technology.
Is Real-Time, Live Traffic Signal Data Provided? While predictive signal data is our core product, we also provide a live signal status information service specifically addressing the needs of Smart City technology and analytics service providers. Contact us for detailed specifications and pricing.
