How It Works
Working with Suppliers
Government agencies and owners of traffic signal systems are suppliers in our model, providing the access and permissions to use the traffic signal data generated from their owned and/or maintained intersection assets. Our Suppliers are at the beginning to make this technology possible.

Working with Partners
We work with other industry technology leaders to deliver our solution. Our Partners are an important component of our business, allowing for information to be shared from government agencies in the most efficient manner.
Communications
Data packets already communicating to the traffic signal controllers are picked up and delivered second-by-second, 24/7. We then deliver the data to our cloud-based computing center to feed into our algorithms and processes. These data are the building blocks of our technology.

Developing the Technology
Using a combination of data fusion and simulation, and a considerable amount of knowledge about traffic signal controller operations, we are able to predict how long the traffic signal controller will remain in red or green states. Information about the performance of the traffic signal controller, as well as the traffic demand both long- and short-term, is stored and analyzed.

Delivering the Product
Once the prediction is complete, we provide the Personal Signal Assistant data product via three distinct ways:
Once the prediction is complete, we provide the Personal Signal Assistant data product via three distinct ways:
Option #1: Prediction Relay API
- Customer sends individual vehicle location (GPS) data to TTS
- TTS identifies signal that vehicle approaches
- TTS sends status and prediction data specific for that signal back to customer
- This architecture does not require any additional development from customer
- Summary: Easiest and fastest implementation
Option #2: End-to-end MAP/SPAT Delivery
- TTS sends complete MAP and SPAT data sets (SAE J-2735 compliant) for all signals within coverage to customer
- This model allows customer to develop the vehicle to be communication agnostic where it can utilize MAP/SPAT received via the TTS cloud or via local roadside units
- This architecture requires customer to develop their own data distribution backend and in-vehicle MAP/SPAT processing
- Summary: Most complex, yet most flexible implementation
Option #3: Location-specific MAP/SPAT
- Customer sends individual vehicle location (GPS) data to TTS
- TTS identifies signal(s) in the vicinity of the vehicle
- TTS sends complete MAP and SPAT data sets (SAE J-2735 compliant) for those signals back to customer
- This model allows customer to develop the vehicle to be communication agnostic where it can utilize MAP/SPAT received via the TTS cloud or via local roadside units
- This architecture requires customer to develop in-vehicle MAP/SPAT processing
- Summary: Easier to implement than Option 2, yet still preserves the compatibility with locally broadcasted MAP/SPAT data

Getting Into the Vehicle
How the information flows into the vehicle is determined by our customers and solution providers, but most often that is through an existing cellular signal. Either the vehicle, after-market device, or a smart phone provides this connection to the internet. Applications There are various applications of the Personal Signal Assistant. Read more in the next section. This is where the data gets translated to real-world solutions. |
